NDP JOBS ARE EVERYWHERE BUT HERE
Selinger’s “Tin Cup” approach drives investment and growth west: McFadyen
The NDP’s ‘tin-cup’ ways have jeopardized Manitoba’s future as a centre for trade and transportation and their lack of an economic strategy is creating jobs in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia instead of our province, say Manitoba Progressive Conservatives.
“Being excluded from the New West Partnership is a detriment to our economy, and a threat to our jobs and social programs,” said Progressive Conservative Leader Hugh McFadyen. “The industry sectors and companies in our province deserve more than what this NDP is offering. We should be at the table.”
The New West Partnership signed last week will make Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia a free trade zone. Manitoba was not invited to participate because, according to Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall, it receives equalization payments from the federal government while B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan are "have" provinces and are major energy producers.
McFadyen said the NDP’s approach of going to Ottawa to ‘get every possible cent out of the feds,’ (Andrew Swan – Brandon Sun, Sept. 17, 2009) has backfired.
“Instead of stimulating our economy and driving growth through trade agreements, the NDP is looking for a handout,” said PC Critic Rick Borotsik. “When will this NDP start focusing on growth, expansion and opportunity for Manitobans?”
